1. What is your favorite kind of cheese?
I love all cheese. My favorite is probably mozzarella.

2. Do you prefer fudge with or without nuts?

3. How do you feel about cats?
If I could keep it as a kitten forever, maybe I'd like it. But a litter box, ew. And those claws in my thigh, not cool.

4. Meg Ryan or Julia Roberts?
Hands down, Julia.

5. Do you wear a watch?
Nope, but would probably. I've got a really nice Citizen watch that is one link too small and I'm not sure where my extras are. I got it as a graduation gift a long time ago but it's simple and still in style.

6. What are a few of your favorite songs from the 90′s?
Hmm...not sure. Probably some strange hip hop/rap songs. I'd have to listen to the 90's station on Sirius to answer this one better.

7. Do you like scented candles?
Some of them. Most of them give me a headache. I've recently fallen in love with my Iced Caramel Macchiato.

8. What do you like on your hamburger?
I'm pretty plain and simple, but have grown to like lettuce, ketchup, mustard, and cheese.

9. How often do you cut your fingernails?
At least every week and a half, sometimes once a week. Mine grow really fast and are thick, but I prefer them short.

10. Do you sleep in socks?
Only if I’m really cold when I go to bed, and they're usually off by morning.

Yes, Steph, two blog posts in one day!!! Now if only I could get the rest of the things I need to do done. :)

Tree Trimming

Wow, this is the fifth Christmas Sean and I have decorated for in our own home, and Aidan's 3rd Christmas! My how time flies. Honestly I think our tree was empty before Aidan came along, since half the ornaments have to do with him. This year Aidan wanted to help out and put the ornaments on the tree all by himself. We let him do a few, then he got sidetracked by The Grinch, and we repositioned a couple too. The tree looks great and Aidan had a good time helping us out. Now I want to wrap gifts to put under the tree. Of course we'll have to wait for Santa for all the good stuff, but for now we can put a few under there for friends and family.

Speaking of gifts, I really need to finish shopping. I still need to finish Sean, which is the most difficult of the few gift receivers still on the list. There's a couple of things we need to pick up for Aidan too. Also, I never make gifts easy and have a handful that require work on my part to be complete. Next year, it's all gift cards...just kidding!

My thoughts on life right now:
Must shop this week, and get ready for our fifth annual Christmas party.
Want to bake cookies, just not sure what kind. Will probably send some to school for a gift for the kiddies and a few close ones.
Still working on losing weight and would love to drop ten in the next few months.

1. What do you order at Starbucks?
In the generally once a year visit, I get hot chocolate. Last year I believe it was some kind of peppermint mochacchino.

2. Where is your favorite place to eat breakfast?
Right now my favorite place is Rode's for their breakfast buffet. Yum.

3. Are you on Twitter? Why or why not?
No. And to be honest, I'm not really sure what it is. However, if it involves status updates more often than one boring person should update...sign me up!

4. What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Hmm, that’s a hard one. Probably Elf. I love a movie that makes me laugh out loud. Also love the Prep and Landing movies on tv.

5. Are you a good gift giver?
I'd say most of the time. I lack confidence in my gifts though, so sometimes even if they are great I worry they aren't. Sometimes I come up with the great idea after I have already given a gift. Bummer. It's the thought that counts, right? :)

6. Do you like your handwriting?
Eh, it's alright. Especially for a teacher. If I take my time, it can be much nicer than it appears the majority of the time.

7. Is your signature legible?
Yup.

8. Have you ever been to New York during Christmas season?
Yes, and I love it. Well, minus the freezing temperatures.

9. Are there any items that you are completely brand loyal?
Heinz ketchup, Downy or Bounce for fabric softener, and Dawn dish soap. Probably others that I can't think of.

10. Who is your favorite public speaker?
Um, not sure. I'll go with Jimmy Rollins because he's entertaining and down to earth.

1. Where are you from? Have you lived there your whole life?

I'm from a little town in South Jersey. I haven't lived here my whole life. I started out in further south, moved a little farther north in the summer of 5th grade, then moved a town over, then back to the town after 5th grade. So far I've lived in at least 5 houses and that's not counting college. :)

2. How would you classify your clothing style?

Casual - Classic - Comfortable - Cheap {totally stole this right from Crystal...definitely my style classification, if you call what I have style}

3. What kind of car do you drive?

A 2008 Honda Pilot. Very reliable and safe.

4. What would your dream home look like if you could have it (or already do!)?

Although I'm thankful for what we have, it's no where near my dream home or even forever home. I want something that greets me with a grand front porch and entrance, maybe a brick or stone front. There would be an open layout downstairs, with a large kitchen with lots of counters and cabinets that opens to the family room and dining room-perfect for entertaining. There would be at least 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, an office, and an awesome finished basement that would be perfect for game playing and watching tv. We'd also have an inviting and fun playroom for the kiddies. I'd love to have an attic (walk up would be dreamy) to store all the crap we've got. And while we're at it better throw in a 2 or 2 1/2 car garage, large backyard, and patio for entertaining.

5. Do you have kids, and if so, how many and how old were you when you had them?

I have one son. I had him the day before my 26th birthday.

6. What is your favorite hobby?

Shopping? I don't really have a hobby but sure wish I did. I used to ride horses, and would like to get back to that because I REALLY miss it. Now I'm just afraid to get hurt and not be able to take care of Aidan.

7. Are you going to have any New Year’s resolutions for 2011?

I hate resolutions because then I feel like I've failed if I don't follow through. Mine is always to lose weight and get in shape, but I can't seem to achieve that goal. I would love to lose 10-15 pounds, so my resolution is to get to the gym at least twice a week.

8. What is something, if anything, that you’d want to change about yourself?

I would love to lose the weight, then I think I'd have more energy and be less grumpy. Besides the physical aspect, I'd love to be more carefree. I'm kind of uptight sometimes and find it hard to let loose.

9. What is something that you love about yourself?

This shouldn't be that hard, right?...I'm a good mom-wife-teacher, even if I'm tough on myself some days.

10. Pick one of the following: Someone to cook for you, someone to do your laundry, or someone to do your dishes.

Well that's not too hard...definitely someone to cook for me, we eat out toooo often {hence the extra weight}. I've got Sean to do the dishes and laundry, even if it is a few days after they should be done. ;)

Thanksgiving Eve

This was Aidan's entertainment on Thanksgiving Eve at Uncle Colby and Aunt Meg's house. Jeff played for a little before handing it over to Aidan where he had a grand time strumming away. Too bad I only had my cell phone to take a picture. What a cutie.

My thoughts on life right now:
I'm most thankful for Sean and Aidan, who hold my hands through the rollercoaster that life sometimes provides.

There goes the turkey

So my little turkey went on an errand with me on Wednesday to check out prices of turkeys-fresh/cooked/frozen at our local Italian market. While there he insisted he needed a turkey cupcake. Being the somewhat for Aidan, but not really, health conscience mom I told him no way. That cupcake must have had a pound of icing, and it was no ordinary cupcake, it was jumbo sized. And, Aidan doesn't eat the cake anyway...he just licks the icing. Yeah, no thanks to that major sugar rush. After dealing with a minor meltdown, I promised him ice cream later at home, which he proceeded to forget about altogether once dinner was over.

After picking him up from some quality time with Mom-mom on Thursday, I told him we had to go to Acme to get a turkey. Immediately he remembered that jumbo turkey cupcake and insisted we go to "Aidan's school" since the Italian market is on the way to his school {crazy he knows directions like that}. We get into Acme and he's telling me he needs a turkey cupcake there too. I tried explaining we weren't getting cupcakes but a turkey like a chicken...no go. We end up in the bakery department and Aidan and all his cuteness ends up with a thanfully much smaller version of the darn turkey cupcake I turned down the first time he insisted. He very much enjoyed picking out that cupcake and then pushing it around in one of the smaller carts. Gotta love a kid who enjoys shopping just as much as his mommy.

Oh, guess where that cupcake sits two days later? Yup, on the counter. So much for needing a turkey cupcake!

We followed up our turkey adventure by dropping it off at home, rushing out when we realized we had 15 minutes before the last free flu shot clinic put on by the county in our neck of the woods was going on, and making it there just in time to fill out the form and get our shots. I got mine first, and Aidan enjoyed watching a 5 year old freak out and scream at the nurse that "you ain't gonna shoot me. no way." and then get wrestled to the ground. I prayed that Aidan would not react in the least bit when it was his turn. Thankfully he sat right on my lap and took that flu shot like a man. No flinching or tears shed by this brave kid. Awesome.

So, why not follow up all the good behavior with a hair cut. He of course sat like a 50 year old gentleman the whole time, listening and following the directions of the "girl" (that's what Aidan calls her). He made sure to say bye and thank you to the "girl". He was happy to see "girl" from the car seat too. He always melts the hearts of the stylists there. The girl who cut his hair said he's one of the best kids and sits better than most kids older than him. So nice to hear.

What a great afternoon with an amazingly awesome little guy.

Ten on Tuesday

1. Do you color? If you do, is it with markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.? I color with Aidan and occasionally with my students at school. I prefer new crayons or colored pencils, because then they're the sharpest.

2. What’s the most organized part (or system) in your house? As ridiculous as this sounds, my attic. I know where everything is up there.

3. What’s the most unorganized part (or system) in your house? The rest of my house. It gives me heartburn thinking of how much better it could look.

4. If you had unlimited amounts of time and money, what museum would you want to see and why? Probably the Louvre. I've been to Paris but not there. The outside looked interesting though. (Now, when's that unlimited amount of time and money getting here...I've got a house I'd like to organize)

5. What is your favorite part of the fall season? Definitely the colors of the leaves.

6. Did you dress up for Halloween? Yes. I was Jessie from Toy Story. Aidan was Woody and Sean was Buzz Lightyear. We were cute.

7. Have you started Christmas shopping? The other day I picked up a wooden bead lacing kit for Aidan from the dollar spot at Target for $2.50. It'll probably be a stocking stuffer. Also ordered a gift from Aidan to someone. I wish I knew what everyone wanted and I'd get started right away. (hint*hint)

8. Do you crack your knuckles? Once in a blue moon. I used to all the time in high school.

9. If you had to live in another city for a year (all expenses paid), which city would you choose? London. They speak English and things are just so much more interesting and awesome there. If I had to pick a US city it would probably be some place like Boston or maybe a California city.

10. Do you have any reoccurring dreams? Not that I can remember.

I'm stealing this "Ten on Tuesday" from Crystal, a nestie/blogger friend. It's a quick way for me to blog and you can learn a little about me. :)

1. What is your favorite decor item in your house? Sadly, this is taking a while to think of, but probably the trio of pictures hanging in my family room (left-lifeguard stand where we got engaged at sunrise, middle-aidan, right-wedding day on a river pier)

2. What is your favorite hair product? Does a ponytail holder count? I wish I knew what to do with product!

3. Are you a good dancer? Haha, no. I sure wish I was though.

4. You get some good news, who’s the first person you call? Sean

5. Would you rather take pictures, or be in pictures? I'd rather take them because I have control issues and difficulty telling people what I want when they take the picture. There are times I'd like to be in pictures but I feel bad asking someone to take over.

6. What is your shoe style? Well, first of all I don't have much style. Second, I probably enjoy flip-flops and my Uggs the best. After that it's probably this pair of Bass shoes that I love so much for work that I'm on my second pair! They're soooo comfy! {I'm afraid I won't be able to find them though, I could only find kids sizes when I googled it. uhoh.}

7. How often do you eat out? More often than my pants prefer. We need to eat in much more often.

8. If someone has food in their teeth, do you tell them? Does it make me a bad person if I say it depends who it is? It also depends on the situation. But I try to always tell.

9. Do you fold your underwear? Occasionally

10. Milk, dark, or white chocolate? Definitely dark!

I LOVE this mobile photo. (I HATE that it took a week to get on here because my phone stopped sending messages to my blog and Facebook.) Once again, Aidan is pantless in a priceless photo, but the kid likes to be comfy. He was so excited that Daddy was going to lay on the floor and color with him. Too cute!

By the way, the month of October is: Breast Cancer Awareness, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance, Infertility Awareness, Down Syndrome Awareness and a host of other awarenesses. So, ladies check your boobs...while they may not look perfect to you, it's better to be perfectly healthy than to be perfect looking. Be kind and thoughtful of those around you, as you never know who may have experienced the loss of a child or the ability to have a child. Be respectful to children with DS, they have a heart and feelings too.

Yay for Columbus Day!

Today I'm thankful that Columbus found America, because it means I get a very much needed day off from work to spend with my Aidan. The time with him today is even better because Sean and I had a wedding in Tom's River on Saturday so we were away from him until Sunday afternoon. I missed my little guy and had a lot to accomplish today with him. This morning we got up, enjoyed some cartoons and cereal, then got ready for a morning of errand running. First up was a hair cut for the little man. He always sits very well despite wanting to turn and look at all the noises and distractions.

After the haircut we had some books and DVDs to return to the library which were overdue. I'm up to $8.05 so far, and they're still letting me take books out. :) We were running just a few minutes late but Aidan wanted to stay for story time. I'm totally amazed and excited about how much of an increase there was in his participation. He used to want to sit on my lap the entire time and not sing or dance when they did the music portion unless the instruments were involved. This time he went and got his little mat, and stood and clapped and marched along with the rest of the group. He turned to make sure I was there a couple of times, but he was great. He also was excellent at following directions and paying attention while the story was read. What a good little guy. He played on the computer and picked out some books, then we were on our way to lunch before running more errands.

Lunch at McDonald's. Yum. It's soooo bad for you but soooo good. Aidan wanted "chocoloate milkshake, no chicken, fries". So, he got a McNuggets Happy Meal and his latest obsession, a chocolate milkshake. He was quite happy and did eat the chicken even though it wasn't part of his request. I've never seen a kid almost cry because they hadn't put the milkshake on the tray yet until today with Aidan. Next time, I'll order that first!

Once my milkshake lover finished lunch we headed over to Tree Awareness for their $20 porch deal {2 bales of straw, 2 cornstalks, 2 pumpkins}. That was a nice quick stop and Aidan enjoyed picking out the pumpkins. Sean and I are hoping to go on a hayride with him again this year, but we needed something to spruce up outside our front door now. It really looks like Fall now.

Not long after decorating my little guy was out for the count and enjoying his beauty rest. I'm going to start some laundry and enjoy the cool breeze coming in and maybe a little nap as well. Later, it's off to Gap and their 40% off everything sale! I need a few new pieces for work and Sean could use a few new things as well.

Days off are always a welcome break.

It's been a while!

Wow, I didn't realize that it's been more than 20 days since I last blogged. Can you tell my August has been fairly busy? Well, that and I'm avoiding all things that feels like work. And I guess blogging falls into that category right now. Here's a not-so-short recap:

Thanks to Cait and her ridiculously messy rooms. Yes, rooms. I feel like I accomplished a lot in a week or two this month. She had clothes piled and hanging in her room as well as Sean and Meg's old rooms in her house. We cleaned out Meg's closet, well the M-I-L did, and then after Cait went through her clothes we did some major organization of her clothes in Meg's closet as well as the one in her bedroom. Now she's down to two closets, which if you saw all the clothes that girl has, it's an accomplishment. After a fun and eventful trip or two to IKEA, Cait now has a new 8 drawer dresser, bed, and nightstand. Meg and I had quite a fun time putting it all together, but we both like seeing the final end result so we pushed through all bazillion screws, nuts, and bolts in no time without losing our minds. Now hopefully she can keep her "big girl room" nice and clean.

Aidan and his big boy bed are going well. When he wakes up he usually opens his door, then closes it once he's in the hallway, then heads down to our room. 99% of the time he comes to my side and says "hi mommy" with a big grin on his face. Once in a while he climbs onto the ottoman (yes, it's there so Toby can climb into our bed) and into bed with us. After naps he usually heads down the hallway and into the office to greet Sean. On days when he wakes up to an empty upstairs he's generally upset that he can't find anyone but is quite happy to see us when we meet him at the gate upstairs. Surprisingly we haven't caught him out of bed playing with his books yet, but maybe it's because we're still putting him to bed asleep!!!

Last weekend Aidan and I were lucky enough to have a four day weekend with Sean. Friday morning we had a follow-up appointment at CHOP Cardiology in Voorhees to check on Aidan's two heart murmurs. He was a little angel for the appointment, well, except when he decided he didn't want to wear the gown and instead wanted to walk around the room in his diaper and socks. No biggie. He did a great job with the EKG. The murmurs are still present but not as obvious so we've been released and only need to come back if a problem arises or his pediatrician has any more concern. YAY!!! After the CHOP visit we headed to Franklin Square to give Aidan his first experience at mini-golf. Boy was that fun. He managed to get two legitimate hole-in-ones! He also really enjoyed starting about a foot away from the cup. He had a ton of fun and so did we. After golf, we enjoyed lunch from Square Burger, eating it at a cute little table in the park. Aidan got his new favorite, a chocolate milkshake. After filling our bellies with delicious fries, burgers, and a taste of Aidan's shake, we headed over to the carousel for a fun family ride. I can't wait to get those pics up, Sean was even on a horse! Aidan thought it was great to have Mommy and Daddy ride next to him too. What a fun day!

Saturday was a fun day spent with the girls for Steph's bachelorette party. We started off at Viv Pickle, which was a surprise to Steph and she totally enjoyed it. Then we headed over to Continental Mid-Town for a delicious dinner, some great drinks, and lots of laughs. After a quick stop at Borders for a bathroom break and good laugh in a certain section, we walked to Lucky Strike to hang in the lounge before enjoying two hours of bowling. All in all we had a fabulous, fun, relaxing night. Steph had a great time which was all that mattered.

Sunday we welcomed home Sarah, a long-time friend of Sean's. She just returned from serving in the Navy in Afghanistan. She does all sorts of crazy stuff over there. We're certainly thankful that she's home safe and is able to spend time with her family.

Monday....oh Monday. Do you believe that we took Aidan to his preschool, yes PRESCHOOL, orientation on Monday? My little man is growing up too fast! We found an excellent program nearby that has a two year program two days a week for two hours at a time. It's just what he needs to get started since he's been with mom-mom since he was four months old. Orientation was great because after a few minute chat with the director the kids all went to their classrooms with their teachers and the parents stayed back. After about fifteen minutes the kids came back. Aidan didn't seem upset and it was only good things to be said about him (good manners, well behaved, good kid, so sweet, etc.). Sean and I were certainly proud of him. I must admit, it made me sad to think he's already big enough for that. Sheesh. Where has time gone? After orientation Sean went golfing with his dad and Aidan and I went to the mall to get that all-important backpack for school. Afterwards we enjoyed lunch and then some play and nap time at home.

Today I took him into the classroom with me. It's sometimes tough to get things done with him there, but today I had him put a pencil and eraser in each of the thirteen (yes, 13=too many!) student desk baskets and then a couple of other things on each of their desks as well. He also enjoyed painting with watercolors, drawing, playing with math manipulatives, and helping me clean up. Such a little helper!

My thoughts on life right now:
I'm NOT ready to start school again, especially since it means leaving my little guy.
Family time is still the best time.
Preschool already? Wow Aidan.
Aidan, you make mommy and daddy proud of you every day.

Big Boy Bed!

It's a big day for Aidan, his crib was converted to a toddler bed! Of course while I was trying to take the footboard off he was mommy's best little helper. He wasn't too happy when I moved themattress off, but was thrilled when he got to climb into his very own bed. He told us he would not climb out of his crib because he would fall, so I was hoping he would be just as cautious about getting in and out of the bed...I was fooled. He must have climbed in and out 20 times in five minutes. He thought it was great. He didn't even scoot down, it was more like a step off the side. All of a sudden we take away the front and he gets brave. Great. As usual he fell asleep cuddling with Sean after his milk. After a little while I performed my nightly routine of taking him up to bed. What an easier task to do without the crib front on! My 30ish pound baby wasn't so hard to lay down without waking. My back thanks me for the conversion. Check him out:

Basically he didn't want me to watch/video him, but he wanted to watch the video on my phone. We made a couple of videos of him playing on the bed and he thought it was so funny to watch himself. He was cracking me up!

Best Buddies

Aidan and Toby are best buddies. Most of the time one is looking for the other. Most of that time one is bugging the other. Toby is usually hoping for even just a morsel of food from Aidan and Aidan just wants Toby to play, most of the time. Then there's times like in the picture where they just want to cuddle next to each other. When Aidan laid down he made sure that I covered him and Toby. He wanted to share. Too cute.

My thoughts on life right now:
Toby is going to be 10 in September. He's not going to live forever. Will I be more devastated that Toby is gone or that Aidan's best buddy is gone? I guess I'll keep telling him to live forever.

Snacking Poolside

Snacking poolside is one of Aidan's favorite things to do at the pool club. It's usually one of the last things he does before we head home. We were/are so lucky to be members of our local pool club this summer. We aren't there every day but it's nice when we are. Aidan enjoys playing with all of the kids and I enjoy the time out of the house and in the fresh air.

My thoughts on life right now:
It's crazy that I'm taking my son to the same pool that I went to when I was a little kid. I wonder if he'll do the same one day.

Aidan wasn't ready to nap even though he was definitely in need. Finally we compromised and he ended up napping in his tent in the family room. He was completely oblivious to the crazy storms going on outside.

Isn't it totally amazing on how a little one changes in just one year? These are both pictures I took of Aidan on our last nights in NWW. It's going to be the tradition to take pictures of Aidan and a family pic of us together at the end of the week. It's neat to compare one year to the next and I just love the lighting of beach pics. Thanks to my sister printing out last year's family pic {currently the pic by my bio on the blog}, and me finding a frame for it, we have it hanging in our dining room. I can't wait to print and hang this year's pic.

I'd like to get a pro family pic done one year on the beach. Or maybe just one with coordinated clothes:)

Sweet Treats on the Beach

It's funny how the older you get the more you realize what's going on around you. For instance, last year the Fudgy Wudgy man was just another beachgoer to Aidan. This year he was Aidan's favorite person. Oh heck, he was asking for ice cream as soon as his feet hit the sand! The Fudgy Wudgy man sure made Aidan one happy boy this week.

Thankfully he doesn't know the ice cream truck yet ;)

Water Park!

We don't typically take the tram car but on the day we go to the water park we certainly ride it back! Thankfully it's free since we have the bracelets for the park. Aidan really enjoys the ride and we enjoy not having to carry him back way too many blocks. This ride was especially sweet since he got a yummy lollipop for the ride.

Typically after our trips to the beach we're rushing around getting showers and dressed and dinner, but if we get off the beach before dinner time then Aidan usually is pretty pooped and is quite happy with a cup of milk and then some cuddle time with his bears and blankie. As you can see, it was one of those days.

My thoughts on life right now:
Don't we all wish we could nap like that after a day at the beach?
Can you imagine if furniture was still made like that?
What's he going to do when that blanket doesn't cover half his body? There used to be a time we could swaddle him in it. Crazy.

{WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD BUT I THINK IT'S WORTH IT :)}

What an awesomely fun weekend! Friday afternoon I went for a mani and pedi with Meg at a new nail place nearby {have I ever mentioned how fabulous it is that Sean works from home which means I can sometimes sneak out during Aidan's nap time?}. They were quick and efficient without sacrificing any pleasure. I think if I could get one every few weeks I definitely would, but that's not exactly economical especially since I don't get paid in the summer. Too bad though, that's when my feet look the worst! :) After that and once Aidan woke up from his nap, he and I headed out to Deptford to pick up a few things for today. We met up with Chrissy {My sister's future sister in law--got that?} and her little guy Connor. He's just a few months older than Aidan so the boys were quite happy to see and entertain each other while we checked out BB&B. After getting Steph almost all of her platters, serving bowls, and other stuff that matched her dishes, we left. Aidan and I ran a few more errands before returning home to hang out for a bit before resting up for the fun days to follow.

Saturday I headed over to Meg and Colby's because I'm lucky enough to have a sister-in-law who doesn't just give me fashion advice but is also talented enough to do my hair for special events. She did a great job and I got hang with two of my favorite doggies while I was there. After running back home, dropping Aidan off at the in-laws where he had a sleep over, and then running back home to get ready, Sean and I were finally out the door to go to what turned out to be one of the very best weddings we've been to.

We arrived at Chelsea and Phil's church and it was still raining a little. Boo. But that didn't stop the ceremony from being beautiful, despite the fact that all the cameras were a little getting used to. Oh, one of the coolest things about this wedding is that it's going to be featured on TLC's Four Weddings. After driving around in the construction mess, we ended up at the bar at Indian Springs Country Club, where the reception was. We enjoyed cocktail hour upstairs on the large porch until it got too hot and then we enjoyed it in the chilly AC. I must say from that point on it was one of the most efficiently run receptions. We had soup, salad and dinner done by 8:15 for a reception that ended at 11. Awesome. Lots and lots of dancing, laughs, and bright camera lights filled the next few hours. The film crew wasn't too obtrusive, or maybe we just got used to them. I wanted to take the photographer home with me and bring him to any party we would ever get invited to because he was just a bundle of fun and energy. He literally danced around the floor and guests while taking pictures. I can't remember the last time I danced that much, smiled that often, and had that much fun. I guess I finally let loose. Once that was over we spent too long figuring out what we were going to do....after party/no after party. Finally after an impromtu group stop at 7-11 we stopped and hung out with the newlyweds before we all left them to enjoy their night. Thank you Chelsea and Phil for an unbelievable time!

Onto Sunday, Steph's bridal shower day!!! I picked up our little man from the in-laws and enjoyed some great Aidan laughs before heading out the door to Steph's bridal shower. She knew about the day and time, but not the place, and Brian was going to get her there. We had it at the Riverview and it was great. All I had to do once I got there were a few final touches and put the favors at each place setting. The guests arrived by 1:15 and Steph by 1:40. She was so happy and Brian, although a little overwhelmed by the estrogen in the room, was beaming too. Steph got soooo many things off of her registry and some other great gifts too. The food was delicious and so was the cake. I'm so glad I went with the chocolate chip with chocolate mousse filling. Yum. Everyone kept complimenting how beautiful the view was and I was thrilled it wasn't a rainy day. The room overlooked the river and since it was so nice out there were boaters out. I was able to pile everything into my Pilot, thank goodness for SUVs and efficient packing skills. After everyone left Steph, my mom, and I headed back to Steph's to drop off all the goodies and go through her wishing well. She has so many thoughtful and generous friends and family. She had a great time and I'm so glad!

Finally home now enjoying the couch and silence of the brand new ceiling fans that Mike installed for us today. Yay!!! No more 20 year old fans in our bedroom and Aidan's room and we even got a fan in the office that had none before. I can't tell you how quiet it is upstairs. It's glorious.

My thoughts on life right now:
I wish I had more weekends like this.
NO, not weekends this busy just good times.
So thankful for having a sister-in-law that's more like a sister and a friend.
Yay for my sister and all the great stuff she got.
Two days of wearing heels is not my cup of tea but it was nice to not feel frumpy. :)

In a spur of the moment decision we headed down to Colby and Meagan's shore house in North Wildwood on Saturday afternoon. We spent about an hour or so on the beach and then hung around that night. Sunday we spent some time on the beach and then hung out at the house before walking up to the boardwalk to see the fireworks. Before going for the walk, Aidan enjoyed some Madison time. He was so happy to hold her, well, at least for a few minutes. I got some cute shots on my camera and need to upload those still. Aidan didn't really like the fireworks this year. He said they were too loud and didn't even want to watch. We were originally on the pier by the waterpark, but then quickly walked back toward the house once we realized how bad the wind was blowing sparks and smoke toward us. It was a beautiful night out though, and we certainly can't wait to be back down there for vacation in a couple of weeks!

Bathroom Mini-Makeover

So there are a few things I'd like to do around the house this summer. One of them being making over Aidan's bathroom. When we bought the house it had a rubber duck switchplate and I just went with it. Lately I've had enough of the ducks and wanted something a little more stylish but still kid-friendly. A month or so ago while in Target I saw an awesome whimsical shower curtain. I held off because I didn't want to impulse shop, even though I knew the bathroom was on my to-do list. Well, today while out at Target I decided to go ahead and get the shower curtain and a few coordinating items to go along. I love the little squirrels and owls on there, and so does Aidan. The colors are just right and seem to match the existing wall color perfectly. There are still some things I'd like to get to finish off the room now that I've seen what I already bought put together, but it'll be easier to add on now. I'd also LOVE to get a new vanity and tile floor in there, but that's just dreaming. lol. I do think I'll try and find a light fixture that matches a little better since I've hated the builder grade one since we moved in! Anyway, here are some before and after shots for you.

I'm just totally in love with the way it has turned out so far. It makes me smile, seriously. I don't really have style, so the fact that this ended up looking as good as it does and making me feel this happy about it is quite pleasing. So, what do you think?

Growing up!

Sean and I were outside grilling and Aidan was playing. All of a sudden he starts yelling for us because he was stuck on the climbing wall and couldn't go any further. We were so happy and couldn't believe how far he had gotten on his own. After some playing we enjoyed dinner on the patio and Aidan had some ice cream for dessert. We had to go in sooner than we liked due to being eaten by the buggies. Boo to the mosquitos!

My thoughts on life right now:
I am truly blessed with an awesome son and wonderful husband.
Is my little baby really big enough to climb and play on a big swingset already?

After sleeping in this morning, Aidan and I headed to the library to see a Sciencetellers show. It was their kick-off party for the summer reading program. Aidan (wearing a brown shirt) walked right in and found a mat to sit on in the group of kids. He sat there for most of the show laughing and smiling. He still isn't so sure about the hand-raising instructions, but he was cute. He really enjoyed the show, and so did I. I'm so grateful that we have cool *FREE* programs like this at our library. At the end he wouldn't leave without saying goodbye to his toddler library group teacher, Miss Heather. Too cute!

Hello Summer!!!

Well, it's been quite a while since I blogged so this is going to be a long catch up with a bunch of random stuff probably. Just warning ya!

Since I last posted I finished the school year which means time for fun for Aidan and I. This summer is the first that we joined the local pool. Aidan is such a water baby. He loves being in the water and really loves that there are other kids to play with/around. Right now our daily routine goal is to be there by 11 and leave around 1:30 so that he can be down for a nap at two. And...my little guy is finally going down for naps awake {not that we tried before!}. Kathy was able to get him to do it a few times in the past month but he isn't as cooperative with us for naps as he is with her, so I didn't expect him to do it. Yesterday and today I told him he could take a book up with him, laid him down, then walked right out and shut the door. He chatted for a bit but within 10 minutes was asleep. I never thought the day of putting him to bed awake, without any crying, would come. Crazy. My little guy is really growing up.

Speaking of growing up, I think I'm going to convert his crib into a toddler bed this week/weekend. It will force me to keep his room clean as well as make that transition to a big boy bed. It should go well since even though he can climb out, he doesn't. Usually he just yells for me to come get him. Either way, I'd rather make the transition now while I'm at home and not working than during the school year. I'll let you know how it goes!

A few other goals: get the house cleaned up, maybe redecorate my bedroom and Aidan's bathroom, lose a few pounds, and develop some sort of cleaning routine.

Happy Father's Day!

{First movie-Toy Story 3}

Happy Father's Day to the best daddy in the world is probably what Aidan would say if he could. Sean wanted to take Aidan to Toy Story 3 for his first movie experience. We went to a 9:40am movie, however due to a bulb breaking, switching to a different theater and then about 30 minutes of previews, the movie didn't start until almost 10:30. Aidan was content in his own seat until the movie started, then he hopped on over to my lap. He sat so still and watched the entire movie until it was just about over, when he decided it was a good time to take his shoes off and smell his feet. Too funny, kid. It was about five minutes before then when I told Sean that Aidan's diaper was super full. About 30 seconds after the stinky feet, I felt soaked and it wasn't because I peed myself. All of Aidan's wiggling caused a leaky diaper. Not cool. Both of us were soggy. Luckily we both had extra pants in the car (yes, I'm an overpacker but it's times like these when it pays off). After the pee fiasco, we headed to The Pop Shop where Aidan enjoyed his Betty Pancakes and Sean and I enjoyed yummy grilled cheeses. Delicious!

Later that day we stopped by my sister's to see my dad and then headed over to my mom's to see Mike. The following day Sean and Aidan Skyped with Sean's dad. Everyone got their father's day smiles from Aidan.

There couldn't be a better father for my son.

I love the look of it! Also love the limeade--very summery, and the aqua leaf. Who knew they made these???

I've also got a bathing suit and flip flops for Aidan on my list, an outfit/black dress for a bachelorette party this weekend (need to check the closet first), and possibly new bathroom stuff for Aidan's bathroom if I can get an awesome deal on stuff. Now, let's see if I can do it all on the cheap.

Memorial Day Weekend

Ahhh, the beach. My happiest place on Earth. The minute we can see the bridge to cross over on to the island I get giddy with excitement. Maybe it's the salt air or sea gulls, I don't know. Whatever it is, it puts me at ease...at least for a few minutes!

Saturday afternoon we headed down to NWW as very thankful guests of Meagan and Colby. We arrived in close to record time and Aidan was fabulous on the ride down as usual. After a little while we ordered dinner and then Sean, Aidan, and I headed up to the boardwalk to see the sights and ride the rides. I believe it was the first Memorial Day weekend down the shore for all of us. It was quite crowded but we had fun anyway. Last year Aidan was a little hesitant on the rides and hated the carousel. This year he LOVED the rides, even that fast-spinning carousel. He slept well through the night, probably exhausted from chasing around his three furry friends, Mac, Manny, and Miller.

On Sunday we were up and Aidan was fully recharged and ready to go to the "big beach". Once we finally got ready and walked down there he was ready to play right away. He loves playing lacrosse with his Aunt Cait so he was so happy that the "sticks" came down with us. He got right to playing with Cait, Kel, and Daddy. The weather was perfect, although hot. The occasional breeze was wonderful. The water was a bit cold, but didn't stop Aidan from running in up to his ankles a time or two, especially being with Aunt Cait, Aunt Meg, or Daddy. He played in the sand, learned how to play paddle ball, and people watched. He even took a little nap. Things are so much different this year. Last year he pretty much stayed put and was easy to entertain with a bucket full of water and some toys and this year he wanted to be on the go most of the time. He wanted interaction and to play with the big kids, not just sit around. He did still need Daddy's shoulder and a nice walk to get to sleep, but once asleep took a nice little nap on the beach. And yes, he does still wear the hat and sunglasses this year...a little more effort on our part to get them on, but they stay on 90% of the time. :)

After most of the day at the beach and a few too many rays for Mommy and Aunt Meg (apparently we need tutoring on spray sunscreen since we've lost our skills in using it!), it was time to head back to the house to get showered. Once clean and hydrated, we enjoyed a very delicious dinner with Colby's parents, Meg, Colb, Cait, and Kel. Aidan ate alright, but he was more interested in entertaining us as a dinosaur under the table. The half hour nap and extended time in the sun made him almost delirious! After relaxing for a bit we headed up to the boardwalk with Meg for a few more rides for Aidan and ice cream on the way home. Aidan really had a blast this weekend at the shore and we did too!

Today while Sean was out golfing with his dad, Aidan and I took advantage of the beautiful day and our pool membership and headed over to the pool. I figured the water would be freezing and we'd both be miserable, however it wasn't too bad. The baby pool was quite refreshing and Aidan went right in. The big pool was chilly, but not so bad that I couldn't get in the three foot section with my little guy jumping in to me. I definitely did not come prepared...I forgot my cell phone, so I couldn't blog any pictures, also didn't think of bringing the camera. :( At least we've got all summer for pictures!

my dirty laundry

*WARNING: This post is intended to be self-motivational*

my.house.is.a.MESS.

Really, it's a mess. Is it dirty? Not really. Cluttered? ABSOLUTELY! There are toys everywhere! Here, picture this:

{Downstairs}You walk in the front door, behind it is a folded up stroller with some reusable bags and the cart cover on top. To the right of the door next to the steps are bags of clothes to be donated. On the steps are piles of paperwork to go to the office (we'll get there eventually), birthday and mother's day cards that I'm too sentimental to recycle, a huge quantity of snapfish photos that need to be put in albums I haven't bought yet, and hanging on the railing are about 3-5 articles of clothing. The living room is housing an "igloo" tent which has a train set inside, another train set outside, a box from a stroller I bought today (really great deal on a Joovy Kooper!), an exersaucer we got out for when friends brought over their baby, and a few toys scattered compliments of Aidan and Toby. Dining room table has been covered with the waterproof pad and not a table cloth in months, hutch is holding things that don't belong there, empty beer meister is taking up space and collecting tennis balls underneath, and more dog toys not in the basket in the corner. The kitchen has a sinkful of dishwasher-not-safe kid stuff, a counter of mail and paperwork, and a table covered with mail. The family room has a huge bubble container that hasn't made it to the garage since Aidan's birthday (4/25), shoes/toys/clothes scattered, pillows out of place (my nightly thing...too many on the couch to lay down with all of them), magazines and newspapers that are past "old news" and Aidan's toy corner needs serious organization. The powder room has my makeup bag, 3 contact lens cases, solution, face wash, and probably a brush or two on the small counter. And last but not least, the laundry room is holding food, kitchen ware, and anything else that can't seem to find a home. Oh, the garage, we won't even dare go there on the clutter.

{Upstairs} Get to the top landing of the steps and what do you see? Extra photos and thank you cards that need to be put away, hallway and all floor areas scattered with dog toys. Aidan's room has outgrown clothes laying on the floor, pampers points to be submitted, homeless empty photo album and sound machine to be used, and laundry to do. Office is a room I prefer not to go in at all. There's a pack n play and extra crib mattress right inside the door, queen bed that only the dog sleeps on, a few ride on toys that Aidan has outgrown, filing that probably dates back to december to do, and a catch-all closet. Our room has enough laundry-clean and dirty-to clothe a small army; shoes scattered under the bed, next to the bed, and all over the supposedly walk in closet floor; more dog toys. Both bathrooms need a quick pick up, thorough cleaning, and redecorating.

So, now that I've aired my dirty laundry about my clutter, maybe I'll get off of my behind and make my house something I can be proud of. The inside is a nice space, when it's not cluttered, but somehow it seems that life gets the best of us and so does the clutter. I'd like to think that the clutter means I'm too busy being a good mom and wife instead, but I know improvements can always be made there too. Maybe it's the stress from work lately that's made it gotten out of hand, or maybe the nice weather? Whatever it is, I know that it's got to stop now. I want a clean house that I won't be ashamed of should someone stop by without notice.

I can't believe how fast my little man is growing up. He loves his milk and bears still though...he's rubbing the tag on the bear. That's how he usually carries them around the house. :-)

Saturday night entertainment

After a few hours of fun at the Swedesboro Garden Show with Steph and Aidan, and once Sean got home from golfing with the guys, we headed out to see a good friend of ours play at a local eatery. Jason Ager is the lucky husband of my very best friend Danielle. They're down in DC now so when they come up it's nice to meet up with them. It's also great to be able to hear Jason without having to find a babysitter. Jason played at The Spot in Woodbury. His music is a mix of blues and rock. He's even released a CD! He's awesome. The food was delicious, Aidan enjoyed the music and even sang a little himself, and the company was, of course, the best.

Playset fun!

Aidan got a playset for his birthday and is soooo happy to have a slide in his backyard. We are really happy he enjoys it and it will definitely be useful in years to come. It's great quality and really sturdy. We thought we should probably get one of the toddler/baby swings for him, but he showed us that he's alright swinging in the regular swing all by himself. Of course he doesn't go very high, but our baby is such a big boy! Here are some pics for you to enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone. Today started out with breakfast at my sister's for my mom and I. As we were leaving with plans to go to the zoo, we realized it was still pretty chilly and we didn't bring enough layers to be comfortable all day outside. So, off to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden instead. It was fairly crowded and we went sans stroller for the first time. It wasn't too bad and Aidan really loved it. He loved watching the fish but especially loved the seals. We went into the 4-d theater and Aidan sat on my lap the whole time. At one point I asked Sean to see if he was sleeping since he was so still. He was just enjoying the show. This gives us hope that we might be able to take him to the movies this summer. It was a great time had by all.
