10 on Tuesday (on Wednesday)

1. From your childhood, what do you miss most about summer vacation?
The carefree feeling of sleeping in, riding bikes and playing all day, and spending the night with friends.
2. Are you going anywhere on vacation this summer?
Our annual trip to North Wildwood.
3. What foods do you like to barbecue?
Chicken or london broil, both that have marinated over night preferably. I really love to do veggies with a little bit of seasoning in a foil packet, yum.
4. How do you celebrate the fourth of July?
Down the shore, watching the fireworks from the boardwalk...but maybe we'll watch from the beach this year since Aidan doesn't like how loud they are.
5. What’s your favorite beverage to drink in the summertime?
Water with lemon, lemonade, tea.
6. What movie are you looking forward to seeing this summer?
Hangover 2 and Cars 2...pretty different ends of the spectrum, right?
7. In the car: windows down or AC?
Oh how I love the AC. Windows are rarely down because it's too darn hot or loud.
8. Have you ever had a summer fling?
Not that I remember.
9. Do you wear sunscreen?
Absolutely, and after this weekend, I'll be applying 30 minutes before I go out and then reapplying much more frequently.
10. Do you have any favorite summertime activities?
Definitely being at the beach. Everything is better there.
My thoughts on life right now:
I need to get back into blogging more often.
And make the blogs a little more meaty and less Q & A.

10 on Tuesday

1. Have you ever used Craigslist?
Never, but sometimes I see things I like.
2. Can you sew?
Nope.
3. Do you pour syrup on your pancakes or dip your pancakes in the syrup?
Pour on just enough.
4. Rain storms: Love them or hate them?
I love them when it's hot out, but not so much when it's cold. Hate the headache that usually accompanies it.
5. Do you like swimming?
Yes, as long as the water is warm.  I hate cold water. Honestly, I prefer just to float around. Ever since I've been pregnant I've been taking an aqua class at the gym which is pretty nice.
6. What kind of drink do you order at Sonic?
Never been to Sonic.
7. Are you funny?
I can be sometimes.
8. At what age will your kids get cell phones?
High school probably. What's the need for them any sooner?
9. What’s your favorite vegetable?
Hmm...maybe zucchini and squash, or fresh green beans in EVOO and garlic.
10. Were you a Girl Scout?
I was a Brownie for a year or two, but that was it.
My thoughts on life right now:
It's hot out, and it's not even summer. This ought to be an interesting 3rd tri.
Disney was awesome, a post to come later on.
Time to get moving on Baby Girl's nursery and buying stuff for her.

Baby Girl's nursery plans

Well, until today I had only bought two boxes of diapers for this little one, seriously. Um, hello, I'm 25 weeks and have zilcho stuff for baby girl. And if it were a boy, I think I could be okay with that since I could use some of the stuff from Aidan, however, she's a girl and could use a little shopping courtesy of Mommy dearest. So since my biggest priority right now is getting her room started, I figured I'd get the bedding and then we could get paint and go from there. I fell in love with this set from Pottery Barn Kids:
{Haley Bedding Set}

So Aidan and I trekked up to the nearest PBK to check out the colors and make sure I still loved it...and I'm so glad we did because I hated the crib sheet. I could have used a different one, but since I don't use the bumper and wasn't going to buy it, the whole "theme" would have been lost. And, thankfully while I was there I fell head over heels in love wtih this set on display. The little birds chirped at me and I just had to have it. (this was my second fave in the catalog):
{Penelope Bedding Set}

I love the colors-light and dark pink, sage green, and yellow. The little birds are so sweet and yet not too girly. It's so fresh and adorable. I ended up getting the crib skirt, crib sheet, and toddler quilt...all of the things I used for Aidan. I can already think of some things to accessorize with, and the Pottery Barn Kids catalog has a lot of ideas, but I'm hoping for some Target or Home Goods finds to make it a little cheaper. I'm already thinking of using something like this to accent a wall (they can both be color customized):

Or maybe this:

So as you can see, I'm finally in "girl mode". Now I just have to figure out what to do with the walls in that room. Right now they're bright white, which would match, but I'm not sure how I feel about white walls. Maybe with this Penelope Valance (in pink/green) or green curtains like these, and with the wall decal, it wouldn't be so plain in there. And not only do I hate to paint, but that would save us a weekend of work in that room that needs some type of new flooring.  Oh, and here's the furniture that Aidan is so kindly giving to his little sis: crib and dresser/changer combo. Whew. I guess now's a good time to start clearing out the office.

My thoughts on life right now:
A girl, still a little surprised but feeling ultra blessed and happy.
There are so many cute things for girls.
If I sing loud enough will the forest animals come help me clean and the fairy Godmother appear to turn my office into something magnificent?

25 weeks

Pregnancy: 25 weeks
Weight Gain: 15 pounds, but feeling great and all belly (minus the 20 10 I wanted to lose before getting pg).
Sleep: Not enough, but that's my own fault for going to bed late. Weekend naps have been fabulous though.
Gender: It's a girl!
Name: She's got a name. :)
Feeling: Great! And quite overwhelmed and anxious since we still have not done one single thing to get the nursery started and until today I haven't bought anything but two boxes of diapers.
Health: Also great.
Movement: Baby Girl is still hanging out down low, but every once in a while I feel her shift around a little higher. She's also responding to me rubbing my belly sometimes.
Belly: Like a soccer ball under my shirt. It's all out front.

24 weeks-whew!

Pregnancy: 24 weeks
Weight Gain: 15 pounds, meh. The doctor said it's great though.
Sleep: I need more.
Gender: It's a girl!
Name: first name picked
Feeling: Great! Braxton Hicks have started, but mostly just when I'm doing too much so I slow down. My sciatica has stopped hurting so often, which is the biggest relief. Oh wait, bigger relief-24 weeks=viability, but that doesn't mean I want her out any time soon!
Health: Getting over a sinus and ear infection, again. Otherwise, feeling great.
Movement: Baby Girl is having a party down low. Almost every movement is felt right around my bladder, but some are starting to get closer to my belly button. I'm starting to feel flips and turns too, not just flutters. Finally. :) Aidan was trying to feel her the other night, too cute. He always pokes my belly button and tells her to wake up in there.
Belly: Will soon be hiding my feet. Every once in a while it's lopsided, which is amusing, but I guess it all depends on where she's sitting at the moment. Oh, and Aidan thinks she's "really far in there" when he's poking my belly button. Tonight after his shower he said "I hug your baby now" and gave my belly (of course the shirt had to be up and pants panel down) a big hug and then kissed my belly button. SO adorable!

10 on Tuesday (on Wednesday)

1. What is the weather like in your city today?
Well I’m writing this on a chilly 50something degree Wednesday, even though it should have been done yesterday when it was 80 and beautiful.
2. Do you like the zoo?
Love the zoo, despise half of the visitors in the zoo. Some people are just so rude. But, doesn't stop me from getting a zoo membership each year (this is our second year having it) and that probably won't stop until the kids are too old to care.
3. Do you eat coconut?
Yes, but I prefer the Malibu brand best ;-)
4. Have you ever hammered a nail? Are you good at it?
I have and consider myself pretty good.
5. Does your family have a vacation destination that you visit often?
North Wildwood for a week or two with Sean and his family for the past 11 years. With my family we always went on a vacation, whether it was Niagara Falls, NC, VA, or just over the bridge to PA. Those trips were always memorable and I want to have that with our family as well.
6. How many pillows do you sleep with?
Usually just one, but while pregnant I sleep with a Snoogle, sometimes a pillow under my belly so I can pretend I'm sleeping on my belly since I'm a belly sleeper, and occasionally one over my head so I don't see the tv light or hear any noises.

7. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Go to the bathroom
8. Will you send your kids to summer camp?
Only if they want to.
9. What do you put on your baked potatoes?
Usually butter and sometimes ranch dressing. Sour cream and bacon bits are a treat.
10. Did you take swimming lessons as a kid?
I did, and want Aidan to take some this year. We'll do them this summer at the pool, or sometime at the gym, whichever is cheaper probably. He's comfortable with the water so I wanted to wait until he was old enough to
